iLIVE project

The University Centre for Palliative Care at the Inselspital (PZI) under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Steffen Eychmüller is participating in the innovative research project "iLIVE - live well, die well" as part of the EU framework programme Horizon 2020, in which 13 countries are involved. The PZI research group is responsible for the development of the first international "Core Outcomes Set" (COS) for Best Care for the Dying Patient. The aim is to create an essential basis for quality optimization of care and treatment in the last days of life. Switzerland is also participating in a randomised study to develop a digital tool to optimise medication management at the end of life, and in the large international cohort study to compare the needs and fears of patients in the dying phase and their relatives across Europe. The overall aim of the project is to make a substantial contribution to the quality of care and treatment in the dying phase of life, a phase of life that many people still associate with fear and anxiety.
